Quantcast 2009-2010 Chicago Bulls: Bulls vs Kings

Chicago Bulls vs Sacramento Kings Recap

After going 0-3 on the road to open the season, the Bulls finally got a win away from the United Center with Tuesday night’s victory over the Kings. The Bulls seemed to finally find their shooting touch as they topped 60 points for the first half and comfortably coasted to a 101-87 win for their first 100+ point performance of the season.

Both the Bulls and the Kings, who had gone a surprising 4-1 before Tuesday night’s game behind the excellent play of rookie combo guard Tyreke Evans, came out sluggish in the early going. However, the Bulls, who have started slowly in a number of games this season, found a scoring spark off the bench in the form of offseason add Jannero Pargo. Pargo added twelve points and, along with strong performances from Salmons and Noah, Chicago enjoyed a fourteen point advantage by the half. The Bulls remained comfortably ahead during the third and fourth quarter and avoided a meltdown like the fourth quarter in Toronto last week to close out their victory with room to spare in arguably their first ‘snoozer’ victory of the season.

The Bulls achieved the win behind strong performances from Salmons (23 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals), Noah (15 points and 14 rebounds), and Deng (16 points and 10 rebounds). Importantly, the Bulls continued their run of strong defensive play to hold the Kings to 87 points and won the game without a strong performance from star Derrick Rose. Looking ahead, the Bulls have 5 more games on the road before returning home but, if they can continue holding opponents to under 90 ppg, they will certainly keep games close and may come out with a few more wins before enjoying a home stretch to begin December.
