Quantcast 2009-2010 Chicago Bulls: Bulls vs Nuggets

Chicago Bulls vs Denver Nuggets Recap

In their third straight road game, the Bulls fell to the Nuggets 112-93. After surprising the Kings with a dominating victory in Sacramento earlier this week, Chicago lost a sleeper to the Lakers. On Satruday, the Bulls came out seemingly determined to get a win as they pushed around a tired Denver team and took a commanding fourteen point lead early in the first half. However, Chicago went cold midway through the second quarter as Denver picked up its game and the Bulls lead had slimmed down to 52-49 at the half. From there, Denver took off as the reeling Bulls failed to contain Carmelo Anthony (30 points), and Chauncey Billups (21). By the time Denver SG J.R. Smith got hot and scored 12 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, it was already over.

In addition to blowing an early lead, Saturday marked only the third time this season that the Bulls had allowed more than 100 points. They coupled this weak defensive showing with an inability to score themselves as SG John Salmons rediscovered his shooting struggles (5 points on 2/11 shooting) and Derrick Rose’s 28 point outburst failed to save the team. The Bulls fall to 6-6 on the season with the loss and have three tough road games (at Portland, Utah, and Milwaukee) to finish a harsh November schedule. However, the Bulls play only four of sixteen December games on the road and still maintain a sterling 5-1 home record so Chicago fans can still look forward to a strong finish to the year.
