Race To MVP
Last Week Rank: N/A
After a decline in numbers last season, Steve Nash is putting up similar numbers that he did in his back-to-back MVP runs a few years back, including a career high in assists and FT%. Not to mention, he is only averaging a little more than 32 minutes a game to do so. The Suns, who missed the playoffs last season, are on top of the Western Conference thanks to Nash. As of now, he is on track to be hoisting up the Maurice Podoloff trophy for the third time.

Just when you think age might get the better of Kobe Bryant, he comes out and puts up some of the best numbers of his career, proving he has a lot more gas left in his tank. The talks of the Lakers beating the 72-10 Bulls record have slowed from the three early losses to Houston, Dallas, and Denver. The Black Mamba could find himself getting a number 1 seed in the West for the third consecutive time. Kobe’s 3P% has been one of the only concerns from him this season, but a 5-8 performance from 3 on Sunday against the winless Nets is a start.

After losing Hedo Turkoglu in the offseason, Dwight Howard has been on a mission to keep Orlando among the elite teams in the East. He is putting up monstrous numbers and keeping his Magic on top of the Eastern Conference. If he can raise his FT% to around 70% he could be on top of this list also.

LeBron has continued to amaze fans with his athletic and unselfish play. He is dishing a career high 8 assists a game and he is proving critics wrong about his lack of a jump shot by shooting 35% from beyond the arc and a career high in FG% and FT%. The downside, the Cavs have already lost as many games at home as they did all of last season.

Everything that Dallas has needed this season, Dirk has given them. 29 Points in the fourth quarter against the Jazz, and a game-winning shot against the scorching Bucks are just two examples of Nowitzki single-handedly getting the Mavs a win.
