Rockets 116 @ Spurs 109 - Recap
The Houston Rockets would not be denied in the second half against the San Antonio Spurs, finishing strong in a 116-109 win at the AT&T Center. The Spurs pulled out to a double-digit lead in the second quarter, but Houston closed the gap to just one point before halftime. Tim Duncan scored his 20,000 th point with his first field goal of the game and finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds, but struggled from the field like most of his teammates. Houston held the Spurs to 41.8 percent shooting to give San Antonio its second straight home loss.
Tony Parker added 22 points and 10 assists. Bench scoring for the Rockets proved to be the defining component as backups Kyle Lowry and Carl Landry combined to score 42 points on 13-of 20 shooting. Both of them shot 7-of-8 from the free throw line. The two performed in the clutch, scoring a combined 21 points in the fourth quarter to solidify Houston’s first road win in nearly a month.
It helped that the Rockets shot 55.1 percent from the floor, including 8-16 from behind the arc. Houston returns home for six straight games beginning tomorrow against the Chicago Bulls.
