Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors - Preview
In the midst of a forgettable homestand, the Houston Rockets welcome one of the worst road teams in the league when they host the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. The offensively potent Warriors are just 4-20 away from home this season. In what will be the last of six consecutive home games, the Rockets are just 1-4 so far after dropping an overtime game against Phoenix 111-115. Houston shot just 37.7 percent from the floor, and the Rockets’ starters combined to shoot 25-of-75 in what was an extremely high possession game for Houston. Aaron Brooks led the team with 24 points and Trevor Ariza added his own 21.
Despite the woes from the starters, the Rockets’ bench is proving to be highly valuable—though now without backup guard Kyle Lowry who is out at least a week with a sprained knee. Chase Budinger and Carl Landry scored a total of 28 points for Houston. Though Houston is having trouble winning home games, Golden State is experiencing just the opposite—winning just once in the last 12 road matchups.
The Warriors—the NBA’s worst scoring defense—also have lost nine of the last 11 games, giving up an average of 110 points during that span. Houston has not lost to Golden State since New Year’s Eve of 2007.
