Quantcast 2010-2011 Chicago Bulls: Bulls 2010-2011 Preview

A Look Ahead At The Chicago Bulls 2010-2011 Season

I know that during this past off-season, many Bulls fans were thinking and daydreaming about some of the lineups the Chicago Bulls would have this season. There was talk about Chris Bosch, Dwayne Wade and even LeBron James coming to Chicago, as well as a host of many others. I think the Bulls made great strides to better themselves this off-season, and there was really no need to tear apart a team that has a very young nucleus, especially when this young and talented team has been in the playoffs the last two years. This team is only going to get better, and with key additions of players like Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver, this young, energetic and very talented team, just made vast improvements to its roster. The Chicago Bull’s staring lineup is set, and it looks like a good one. With a starting five of Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer, Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose, this team is looking like a real force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, and quite possibly a title contender.

Carlos Boozer is said to miss the first month on the regular season, but if this team can keep its head above water in his absence, which is very likely, they will be in great shape when Boozer is healthy and back in the lineup. So lets start by taking a look at this lethal weapon of a lineup that this Chicago Bulls team accumulated during the off-season.

Loul Deng’s career scoring average in the regular season is a very respectable 15.8 points per game. Deng has had some games in the past where he just disappeared, but in his defense, he played his way back from a serious injury. Worries about reaggravating his injury may have slowed him down a little, but towards the end of last season and in the playoffs, Deng was looking like his old self and playing like a man on a mission. I see nothing but an upside to Loul Deng’s game this season, and I’m expecting that 15.8 ppg average to jump up about 5 points or higher. Newly acquired Ronnie Brewer brings a career scoring average of 10.3 points a game and a workhorse kind of attitude.

Carlos Boozer has a lifetime scoring average in the NBA of 17.2 points per game, and also isn’t afraid of jumping into the paint and mixing it up with the big boys. Boozer also brings a very healthy rebounding average with him of 10.2 a game. Joakim Noah has quickly become a Chicago fan favorite and a fierce NBA defender. Noah has a reputation of a seriously hard worker, which is willing to win at any cost, not to mention that he is a constant double double machine. It seems that every other game the Bulls played last season, Joakim Noah was putting up double figures in both scoring and rebounding. Couple that with the inside presence of Carlos Boozer and his 10.2 rebounds a game, and the Chicago Bulls have a two-headed monster inside, and undeniably, the best inside presence of any team in the NBA by far.

Derrick Rose is an up and coming star in the NBA and is like a fine wine, because he is literally just getting better with age. Rose went from scoring 16.8 points per game as a rookie in the 08/09 season, to scoring 20.8 a game last season. Look for that to just keep going up, and for Rose to evolve this season, into one of the top 5 premiere players in the NBA. Derrick Rose also already has a career scoring average in the playoffs that ranks up there with some of the greats in the game, at 22.7 a game. I also expect that to go up with more experience, and with him being surrounded with better talent. The Chicago Bulls also have a nice array of players able to come off of the bench and step in admirably. They have a nice mix of young talent and experienced veterans on the bench, with the likes of Kyle Korver, Keith Bogans, Taj Gibson and others.

While all of the off season talk has surrounded teams like the Heat, Celtics and Lakers, the Chicago Bulls have quietly put together an NBA powerhouse, and are a team that will have a big say in how things go in the NBA season this year.
