Quantcast 2011 NBA Eastern Conference Finals: Miami Heat vs Chicago Bulls

Miami Edge Out Chicago to Take the Series to 3-1

A missed breakaway dunk by Dwayne Wade early in the first quarter would set the tone for a night of ups and downs. With the Bulls turning on the Jets, it looked as though it could be a long game for Miami…and it really was.

Wade came alive in the second quarter to claw back some points and inject life into his team with LeBron James on the bench. However, the league MVP took this as his cue to put some points of his own on the board and after a sensational dunk over Joel Anthony, Derrick Rose had definitely put Miami back in their place with an 18-7 run to end the half. He finished the game with 23 points but the beef surrounding his fourth quarter performances would be further cemented by the end of the night.

The Heat spent the third quarter trying to pull back the lead that Chicago had built with excellent play from Mike Miller and momentum changing slams by James. They briefly took the lead moving into the fourth quarter with a stand up jumper from Mike Miller, who has been quiet all series long until tonight. This was to be the first of a few great plays from him on the night. However, back came Chicago with some great passing from Derrick Rose who finished with 6 assists and accurate shooting from Luol Deng who bagged himself 20 points and played a game similar to the first where Chicago emerged as the victors.

A flagrant foul from Boozer sent Chris Bosh to the line and this marked the turning point of the game. With the game leveled up at 85, both teams had chances to win it but fell short, yet it felt like Miami had the momentum going into the overtime period and it showed once it began. Chicago made sloppy errors in handling and in transition, leaving LeBron and Bosh to add to their respective 35 and 22 totals. Even Wade, who hadn’t scored a point since the second quarter, came alive in overtime to put in a timely lay up and block a final attempt from Derrick Rose.

Overall, a really hard fought win for Miami. This game proves that they can win both the flashy games and the defensive battles. One more win and they are in the NBA Finals.

All the best from the UK!

Final Score: (CHI) 93 – (MIA) 101
