Quantcast 2011 Los Angeles Lakers Basketball: Lakers @ Blazers

Lakers Edge Out Trail Blazers In Overtime

The Lakers were set to build on their win against Atlanta with another home game against the Portland Trail Blazers and managed pull off the win by doing what they were unable to do during their three game losing streak. They kept up with the scoring pace of the opposition.

Everything seemed to click for L.A in this game, especially for Kobe who looked a lot happier on the court and looked more comfortable taking his shots after getting rid of his ‘man-flu’. He struggled to miss for the most part and put up 37 on the game, showing why he is still a huge asset to this Lakers outfit.

Pau Gasol was as fired up as I have seen him in a while and was snatching rebounds all over the place, getting 14 on the game while Artest was clinical from the three point line when it mattered most. This is an aspect of the game where the Lakers have been left wanting recently but Portland found themselves facing a much more determined and accurate Lakers team than in previous weeks.

The Lakers kept plays alive with good, direct passing and showed great vision in finding the open man. Portland had one last opportunity to win it all in regulation with LaMarcus Aldridge but he was met with a swarm of Lakers as he ran for the layup.

In overtime, both teams were right on target until a foul by Gasol sent Aldridge to the three-point line. Despite being great all game, Aldridge could not add to his 29 point total and hit the back rim with both of his shots to give the Lakers back to back wins.

Final Score: 106-101.
