Quantcast 2011 NBA Western Conference Playoffs: Round One - Los Angeles vs New Orleans

Lakers Advance to the Semi-Finals After a Win in New Orleans

The Lakers may have made it hard work for themselves, but they did it in the end. After dropping two games to Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets, they took the series 4-2.

In this game, New Orleans just could not keep up with the Lakers. Chris Paul had a quiet game in terms of points, only getting 10 on the night, but still proved to be a threat with his 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Aside from some clever play by Ariza and Belinelli, that was where it ended for the Hornets. Kobe and Bynum simply took them apart.

Kobe knows when to step up, and that is exactly what he did in this game. Did he play like he had an injured ankle to you? He didn’t to me. But hey, he hustled. He got 24 points while Bynum chipped in with a solid 18 and 12 rebounds. His size is something that even an excellent defensive team like the Hornets are bound to struggle with.

Shannon Brown again looked good off the bench and added 8. The result? The Lakers outscored New Orleans in every quarter, which led to a comprehensive victory.

The 4-2 scoreline doesn’t really do justice to the effort from New Orleans throughout this series, as they fought hard and looked as though they might get there, but the Lakers seemed to up the tempo, as they do so often.

They go on to face the Mavs in the semi finals – a difficult task to say the least and one where they must stay at that tempo throughout!

All the best from the UK!

Final Score: (LAL 98) – (NOH) 80
