Quantcast 2011 Los Angeles Lakers Basketball: Lakers @ Jazz

Utah Jazz Fall to Lakers in Hard Fought Game

The Lakers may have won 8 in a row, but Utah came to play in this one. Right from the start, they capitalised on every missed opportunity by LA and converted turnovers into points. With their home crowd cheering every basket, they led by as much as 17 points and it really did not look good for the visiting team as CJ Miles put up 12 points in the first half to keep the momentum firmly in favour of the Jazz.

But (and you knew there would be one), the Lakers woke up. They chipped away at the deficit with threes from Lamar Odom and almighty jams from Andrew Bynum along with the endless tank of gas that Kobe seems to run on. No sooner had he fallen to the floor in pain after a collision, he was running towards the basket at the other end of the court to draw another foul. He got 21 points and was just in front of Odom and the veteran Derrick Fisher, who both finished with 16. The Lakers had another gear. Utah did not.

Despite being a Lakers fan, I do feel sorry for the Utah Jazz after this loss. They probably deserved to get something out of this one as they really did give the second seed a tough game; however, they just didn’t have enough in the end.

The Lakers left it late, but a win is a win!

All the best from the UK!

Final Score (LAL) 96 – (UTA) 85
