Quantcast 2010 Los Angeles Lakers Basketball: Lakers vs Kings

From start to finish, Lakers Blow out Kings

After suffering a season worst fourth straight loss, the Lakers rebounded in a big way as the Lakers blew out the Kings Friday night 113-80.

Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers in this lopsided affair with a team high 22 points, as six Lakers scored in double figures. The game was fairly close after one quarter of play as the Lakers held only a five point advantage, but from then on it was pure Lakers highlights. Shannon Brown break away dunks, Steve Blake spot up corner threes and a big game off the bench from Derrick Caracter helped the Lakers coast to their 14 th win of the season.

Coming in to the game starting center Pau Gasol was questionable to play, after aggravating an old hamstring injury. With an already depleted front court the Lakers couldn’t afford to lose Pau to injury, luckily Pau was able to play and due to the big Lakers lead Pau was only needed for 27 minutes of play. The rest of the minutes at the center position went to Derrick Caracter who was able to put up his biggest game as a Laker. Caracter was able to end the night with 10 points 4 rebounds and 2 blocks off the bench. Caracter was just one of three bench players to score in double figures on the night, he was joined by Shannon Brown and Steve Blake, who scored 14 and 11 respectively.

The Kings had only two players in double figure. Jason Thompson led the team with 19 points on 9 of 13 shooting, and Tyreke Evans added 15 of his own. Evans was forced to leave the game less than a minute into it as he and a teammate bumped knees, he returned shortly after and was able to lead his team in three point field goals made with 3.

It was a big homecoming for the Lakers which they needed desperately. The road hadn’t been kind to them, as they were swept on their brief two game trip. I do hope the Lakers don’t dislike the road to much though, as they are scheduled to begin a seven game trip next Wednesday, a day after they take on the Washington Wizards and number 1 overall pick John Wall at Staples Center.
