Quantcast 2011 Los Angeles Lakers Basketball: Lakers vs Magic

Lakers Cruise to a Victory Over Orlando

The first half of this game looked a little sketchy for the Lakers. They were down 29-21 early and spent the rest of the first half trying to claw that lead back.

Dwight Howard looked strong for the Orlando Magic, picking up 22 points and his 55 th double double, but once the second half arrived, every Los Angeles player looked fired up.

Derrick Fisher was great on the counter attack and showed that he still has the experience and leadership to give this team a boost of energy when needed. The Lakers really began to show their skills through the likes of Andrew Bynum, who most definitely earns the title of “rebound king”, totaling 18 rebounds and 10 points to let everyone know that he is back with a vengeance.

Kobe looked great after having to make a crucial game time decision as to whether to step out onto the court. A ‘no-brainer’ for him really, and he was rewarded with 16 points, while Pau Gasol led the scorers with 23.

I mentioned this last week and I will mention it again. When such a dynamic and influential player as Kobe Bryant is left battling an injury as he is currently, a team needs to be just that. A team. They need to rally together and the Lakers are a bunch of hugely talented guys who play for eachother. They displayed great basketball and great determination, as well as a lesson in how to get a career high 18 rebounds from Andrew Bynum.

Final Score: (ORL) 84 – (LAL) 97
