Lakers Beat Dallas in Survival of the Fittest
This game was definitely a survival game for the Lakers. When Kobe badly (or so it seemed) sprained his ankle, it appeared that the Lakers would struggle to keep up with the Mavericks without their number one points scorer. But, in true Kobe fashion, he marched right back onto the court and didn’t look to be in much pain at all. Personally, I want to know what the physio’s healing secret is… With just 16 points on the night, Kobe was not actually the life and soul of the Laker party despite carving up the Dallas defence given even the slightest opportunity. Andrew Bynum, who I find myself praising more and more with every article, had himself a monster game, totaling 22 points and 15 rebounds to help counteract the 25 point nights that Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion.
Interestingly, this is the first time that Dallas has lost this season when Nowitzki has got a double-double. But an inspired effort from Bynum plus a few flexes of Artest’s muscles helped the team rally around their injured teammate to take their record to 9-1 since the All Star Break. Final Score (DAL) 91 – (LAL) 96
