Quantcast 2011 NBA Western Conference Playoffs: Semifinals - Los Angeles vs Dallas

Lakers Lose Another to Dallas who go 3-0 up in the Series

This was a close one. The game was only really won late in the fourth quarter when Dallas regained the lead and held on for the victory. They, once again, played great team basketball. The ever-present Dirk Nowitzki came away with 32 points and 9 rebounds and he was closely followed by Jason Terry, who has been having an excellent series so far. He got 23 points and continues to be a threat from behind the arc.

For the Lakers, ‘Big Bynum’ looked strong and was actually the top points scorer for the Lakers with 21 points and he even had 10 rebounds to go alongside. Kobe has a fairly quiet game by his standards, only getting 17 points. In a close game like this, I can’t help but think that if Kobe had stepped his game up, along with Gasol, the 6 points deficit that the Lakers lost by could have ended up being reduced or even overcome. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

For me, behind Bynum, Shannon Brown was the best player for LA. He injected life off the bench, got 3 rebounds and 10 points. They need to start giving him more minutes as he is continuing to prove what an asset he is to this team.

But in the end, it was to be Dallas who stayed focused and ultimately came away with the win. The Lakers must win their next game in order to avoid the sweep. If they can build on this performance as a team and if Gasol can listen to the raging words of Phil Jackson who seemed to be furious at his play, then the Lakers can begin to play more as a team and less as individuals. It’s do or die for the reigning champions now.

All the best from the UK!

Final Score: (LAL) 92 - (DAL) 98
