Quantcast 2012 New York Knicks Basketball: Knicks vs Heat

New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat: A Recap

Last night’s Knicks vs. Heat game put out lineups that don’t require full names. For the Heat (wearing their evil black uniforms) you have LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, and for the Knicks: Tyson, Carmelo, Amar’e, and Lin. The underlying story is how Jeremy Lin and his media frenzy have overshadowed the stellar play by the Heat. Here’s a look at last night’s throw down.

1st Quarter

Carmelo hits a jumper, but LeBron answers with a dunk. Sometimes I wonder if we shouldn’t be counting James dunks as three points. The evil Heat jump out early, and after a timeout the Knicks get their composure back, pulling within three, 14-11 Heat. With 4:50 left in the first quarter LeBron James is standing on the scoring desk. This actually happened. Lin hits a basket and Steve Novak (the other hot Knick) enters the game. After free throws and a Novak three the Knicks are up 20-19. Mike Miller answers with a three. End of 1 st Quarter: Heat 24, Knicks 20.

2nd Quarter

Novak opens with two threes. Lin is having a rough night, lots of turnovers and only one bucket. Stoudemire scores over Bosh, game tied at 34. Sloppy play throughout most of the quarter, Wade follows a LeBron miss with a slam at the 3:20 mark. James gets the Heat rolling with another slam dunk, just as the Heat start pulling away Carmelo hits a buzzer beater, keeping the Knicks within four. At the half Lin has done nothing, Stoudemire has eleven points, and Novak continues his shooting spree. For the Heat, James has eight, Wade has twelve, and they have the lead.

3rd Quarter

Couple of brief half-time notes: Lots of shots of Spike Lee who had to get away from the mild New York winter. Also, this is a TNT Marv Albert game, “YES!” After a couple Lin free throws Wade drops back-to-back fifteen foot jumpers. Bosh adds a gift in the lane, putting the heat up by ten 63-53. JR Smith (recent pick-up, was playing in China just days earlier) enters the game for the Knicks. The Heat takes a timeout and then rip off a 9-0 run, pushing their lead to 75-62. The Heat are double teaming Lin and making him look like a lost rookie. The 3 rd Quarter ends as the Heat thrash the Knicks and lead by fourteen, 80-66.

4th Quarter

Novak and Smith hit three pointers for the Knicks, cutting the lead to ten. Bosh and Wade answer, keeping the Heat in front with a comfortable 90-76 lead. Lin finishes 1-11 on the night. With 0:33 left in the game James receives a full court pass and jams it home. Final score: Heat 102, Knicks 88. The Heat’s big three were phenomenal. They really dominated a hot Knicks team. Bosh finishes with 25; Wade has 22, and James 20. Evil guys win again!
