San Antonio, TX – What a difference a day makes. The San Antonio Spurs looked well rested as the Memphis Grizzlies visited the ATT Center. The Spurs played a game that was not worth remembering by getting out played by the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday.

The Spurs (34-24) defeated the Grizzlies 107-97. With the win the Spurs swept the season series with the Grizzlies 4-0. The Spurs snapped a two game losing streak and stopped the Grizzlies four game winning streak. The Spurs magic number to clinch the division is down to two games.

Manu Ginobili said, “We played better tonight, not great but better. We played against one of the toughest teams in the league tonight.” Ginobili finished the game with 20 points and made big free throws at critical times in the game. He was perfect from the line making all 11 free throws.

Tony Parker went 4-12 shooting in the last game came out with great shoot making his first three shots and finishing the quarter with 11 points. Parker finished the game with 13 point and 9 assists.

Tim Duncan guaranteed that the Spurs would play better tonight. He was not wrong and was a major factor in the game from the beginning to the very end. Duncan scored 28 points and had 12 boards. Duncan’s biggest bucket may have come with 1:05 left when he tipped in a loose ball to give the Spurs a 101-95 lead.

Coach Gregg Popovich on Duncan, “Timmy’s had a really fine year. He’s been consistent and done a great job all year and tonight he surpassed that. He stepped it up a whole other level. He was phenomenal. He was just a monster.”

Rudy Gay led a very balance attack for the Grizzlies scoring 19 points. The Grizzlies had six players to finish the game in double digits in scoring. Gay said, “We may not have played the right way, but we played hard tonight.” Gay missed the Grizzlies playoff run last year due to an injury felt that he is better prepared to play this season because of team’s experience last year.

Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said, “Early on we couldn’t figure out how to stop the pick and roll. We had a good second quarter and we felt good about ourselves going into the locker room. Hollins continued, “Then we came out in the third and we gave up 37 points. Tim Duncan got it going.”

The Spurs completes a three game home stand on Saturday April 14 against the Phoenix Suns at 8:00 pm Central. The Grizzlies will face the Utah Jazz also on Saturday the 14 at home in the Fedex Forum.
