2008-'09 Clippers Review:
Remember the playoff season of 2006? It's a distant memory in Clipperville. Last year brought back not-so-sweet memories of a typically inept Clipper ship, which sank at the outset (3-16 after 19 games) and remained buried at the bottom of the Western Conference. While their purple-and-gold Staples Center neighbors took home the league championship, the Clips never took wing, even with newly-acquired Baron Davis, who simply did not remain the same man who briefly turned around Golden State's fortunes a few years ago. Instead of flying high thanks to their Baron, coach Mike Dunleavy's men were shot down repeatedly: After their horrid start in November and December, they won only twice in January, only three times in March, and only once in April.
2009-'10 Clippers Preview:
Yeah, the loss of Zach Randolph is a huge addition-by-subtraction boost for the team. Sure, getting Sebastian Telfair to back up Baron Davis at the point is nice, as is the addition of beefy post scorer Craig Smith. But really, there's only one thought on the minds of the loyalists who cheer in the shadows of the Lakers at the Clip Joint version of Staples Center, and that thought reads something like this:
"Be healthy, Blake Griffin! Be healthy, Blake Griffin! Be healthy, Blake Griffin! Be healthy, Blake Griffin! Oh, please, ohplease-ohplease-ohplease, oh-PLEEEEEEEZE be healthy, Blake Griffin!"
